About

Oylegate National School is a small, nine‑teacher primary school situated in the parish of Oylegate‑Glenbrien, Co. Wexford, just off the main Enniscorthy‑Wexford road. The school caters for approximately 150 pupils across six mainstream classes and provides additional support through three Special Education Teachers, creating an inclusive environment for children of varying abilities. Operating under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ferns, the school’s ethos is rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, aiming to foster the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual development of each pupil. The school’s educational approach emphasises a happy, cooperative learning atmosphere where respect and a spirit of co‑operation are promoted. A balanced curriculum integrates religious education in line with Catholic doctrine, while also encouraging personal achievement and satisfaction at each child’s own level. The historic premises, originally built in 1929 with an extension added in 1986, provide a blend of traditional charm and modern facilities suitable for contemporary primary education.

History
