The school provides a balanced curriculum that promotes academic achievement alongside personal development, underpinned by a strong ethos of inclusion and belonging. As a recognised School of Sanctuary, it actively cultivates a safe and welcoming environment for all children, including those seeking refuge, and places a high priority on respect, empathy and cultural awareness. The campus comprises fourteen mainstream classrooms and four dedicated rooms for pupils diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, reflecting a commitment to specialised support and differentiated learning. A lively Parents Association and a Special Needs Awareness committee work collaboratively with staff to enhance the educational experience. The school also offers a wide range of extracurricular initiatives – from green‑school projects and sports to junior entrepreneurship and music programmes – encouraging pupils to explore interests beyond the classroom and develop a well‑rounded skill set.

History

In 1852 a school in Kilrane was admitted to the state system, originally located where the Kilrane Church car park now stands. On 9 April 1923 a new school opened on the site now occupied by Kick Start pre‑school, built with local stone from St Helens. The present school was constructed in 1980 and has since been expanded through several state‑of‑the‑art extensions to accommodate the whole community.
