About

Corlea National School is a small, friendly primary school situated about four miles from Kingscourt and five miles from Shercock in County Cavan. The school operates with two mainstream teachers and a Special Education Teacher who is present four days a week, ensuring that every pupil receives personalised care and support. Emphasising a child‑centred approach, the curriculum follows the National School Curriculum set out by the Department of Education and Skills, with a strong focus on cross‑curricular and cooperative learning. Small class numbers allow for individual attention, fostering a warm and welcoming environment where confidence, knowledge and skills can flourish. Beyond the core curriculum, Corlea offers a broad range of extra‑curricular activities that enrich the learning experience. Students regularly engage in creative projects such as knitting, clay‑tile making, and homemade instrument construction, as well as scientific investigations into solutions, 3D shapes and sound. The school also celebrates cultural events, including French mornings, Seachtain na Gaeilge, World Book Day and various sports competitions, encouraging teamwork, creativity and a love of learning in a supportive community setting.
