About

Scoil Mhuire is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Ferns, located in the townland of Ballinamona, Campile, Co. Wexford, on the New Ross‑Campile road. It serves as the central school for the Parish of Sutton’s, encompassing the Horeswood and Ballykelly curacies. The school provides a broad, faith‑based curriculum for junior infants through sixth class, complemented by a strong emphasis on inclusion and digital learning. Recent European Union funding under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan has enabled the purchase of new IT resources, helping to bridge the digital divide for pupils at risk of educational disadvantage. The teaching team comprises ten mainstream teachers, five special‑education teachers and a dedicated special class for children with autism opening in September 2025. Additional support is provided by a team of special needs assistants, a caretaker, a cleaner and administrative staff, ensuring a safe and well‑maintained learning environment. The school also offers a varied school meals programme, overseen by Fresh Today, and maintains active communication with families through its website, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram channels.

History

In 1979 four local national schools – Aclare NS, Ballykelly NS, Horeswood NS and Killesk NS – amalgamated to form Scoil Mhuire, creating a single central school for the parish. Since then the school has grown to serve the wider community while retaining its Catholic ethos and commitment to inclusive education.
