Rathoe Community HUB

Rathoe Community Childcare is situated in the village of Rathoe, directly opposite Scoil Phadraig National School. Established in 2006 as an after‑school service in the parish hall, it has expanded to provide a dedicated preschool and a comprehensive after‑school programme. The centre offers two colour‑rich preschool rooms – the Rainbow Room for junior children (2 years 8 months to 3 years 6 months) and the Butterfly Room for senior preschoolers – both designed to support the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) framework and the Irish Aistear curriculum. The centre’s educational philosophy centres on Natural Play‑Based learning, encouraging physical movement, sensory exploration and outdoor interaction. Children can choose between indoor and outdoor environments, with the outdoor area featuring a sand pit, mud kitchen, climbing frame, sensory garden, vegetable patch and water play. Indoor spaces provide varied interest areas that foster creativity, imagination and social skills. A strong emphasis is placed on documenting each child’s progress through learning stories and personalised “Special Books”, aligning with Aistear’s developmental goals.
