About

With 284 pupils, Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Micheál is a co-educational Catholic primary school at White's Cross, Upper Glanmire, Co. Cork. Mainstream classes run from junior infants to 6th class, with an ASD class as well. The main block holds 8 classrooms, 4 at ground level and 4 above, and a corridor links it to a hall ringed by small offices and ancillary rooms, a staffroom and a library. A separate building accommodates the ASD class and one mainstream class. Prefabricated classrooms remain in use, and a construction project is intended to replace them with three mainstream classrooms plus space for the ASD class. For the 2025/26 school year the school offered 56 places in mainstream junior infants and none in the autism class. A parents' association runs fundraising events in classes, including one at Halloween.

History

The current school building was officially opened in 1987 by the Minister for Education, replacing a school that had been built in 1904. The earlier premises is now the Upper Glanmire Community Centre, administered by a local community association, and in the 2021/22 school year one class was taught there. A standalone building was opened on the site in 2013, and an ASD classroom opened within it in 2016.
