About

Scoil Naisiunta Nmh Seosaimh, locally known as Ballymitty National School, is set in the picturesque village of Ballymitty, County Wexford, perched on a hill surrounded by green fields and mature trees. The school makes full use of its outdoor environment to encourage active play and experiential learning, providing a safe, organised setting that supports both indoor and outdoor curricula. Facilities include a newly built multi‑purpose space called An Choill (opened 2022) and dedicated classrooms for two autism provision groups, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusivity and personalised support for all learners. The educational ethos centres on the school motto “Kind Hands, Kind Feet, Kind Words, Kind Hearts”, which underpins teaching, wellbeing programmes and everyday practice. Pupils engage in mindfulness, yoga, religious education and Social, Personal and Health Education to develop resilience and empathy. Academically, the school offers a broad curriculum covering English, Irish, Mathematics, the sciences, humanities, visual arts, music, drama and physical education, delivered in colourful, stimulating classrooms that aim to nurture creative thinkers and problem‑solvers for the 21st‑century. A vibrant extracurricular programme complements classroom learning, with participation in GAA, rugby, soccer, handball, rounders, chess, art, craft, quizzes and spelling bees. Student voice is fostered through a Green School Committee, Active School Committee, Student Council and an active Erasmus Committee, the latter supporting European exchanges for staff and pupils since 2021.
