Scoil Mhuire is a mixed vertical national school located on the Dublin Road on the outskirts of Carrick‑on‑Shannon, County Leitrim. The school caters for a vibrant community of 472 pupils and is supported by a dedicated team of 30 staff members, including a principal, class teachers, a specialist SEN team, an EAL coordinator, alleviation and supply teachers, as well as five school‑nurse assistants. The vertical structure enables pupils from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class to share resources and benefit from a cohesive learning environment. The school places a strong emphasis on delivering a high standard of primary education while actively engaging in a wide range of projects, pilot schemes and extra‑curricular activities at both national and local levels. Learners regularly participate in experiential outings such as visits to the local Famine Memorial, science investigations, minibeast hunts and community programmes like Roots of Empathy, fostering curiosity, empathy and a love of learning beyond the classroom.
