About
Scoil Naisiunta Naomh Brighid Kilnagross is a Catholic, co‑educational primary school situated in the scenic countryside of County Leitrim, between the Sheebeg and Sheemore hills. The school serves a close‑knit community of approximately 55 pupils and operates with a dedicated team of three mainstream teachers, a shared Special Education teacher, two Special Needs Assistants, a caretaker/cleaner and a school secretary. Classrooms were modernised during a comprehensive refurbishment in 2010, providing spacious, well‑equipped learning environments that support a broad curriculum, including IT skills, music, drama, art and a range of sports such as football, basketball, athletics and swimming. The school places a strong emphasis on holistic development, offering pupils numerous extracurricular opportunities and participation in national and cross‑border projects. It has been recognised for its environmental commitment, holding three Green Flags and receiving its first Active Schools Flag in June 2023. Ongoing fundraising by the active Parents Association is driving the creation of a school garden and outdoor classroom, expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Free school meals (from April 2024) and free school books are provided, and transport is arranged via Bus Éireann for families living more than 3.2 km from the school, reinforcing its inclusive ethos.
