About

Ogonnelløe National School is a vibrant primary school serving a community of 101 pupils. The school delivers a broad, balanced curriculum that blends academic learning with a strong emphasis on sport, the arts and environmental stewardship. Pupils regularly engage in athletics, hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, basketball, quizzes, music, drama, debating, art, science, gardening and French, fostering both physical wellbeing and creative confidence. The school’s facilities support this holistic approach. A new polytunnel, installed in April 2023, provides a hands‑on learning space for science and horticulture, while participation in the Creative Arts School Initiative and the Artist‑in‑Residency Programme enriches visual and performing arts provision. Sustainability is woven into everyday life; the school has earned seven Green School flags for waste, energy and water reduction, biodiversity and global citizenship, alongside two Active School flags and involvement in the Amber Flag Initiative. A Before‑and‑After School Childcare Service, operating since January 2025 and run by Homework Hub, offers additional support for families.
