About

Aughadreena National School is a co‑educational, Catholic primary school that provides a well‑ordered, caring and secure environment for children aged 4‑12. The school’s ethos is built around the holistic development of each pupil – intellectually, spiritually, physically, morally and culturally – and it seeks to inspire a love of learning in line with its motto, taken from William Butler Yeats: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” A strong partnership with parents is encouraged, and the school places equal emphasis on the professional growth of its staff and the active involvement of families in the educational process. The campus offers a range of facilities to support both academic and extracurricular activities. Pupils benefit from a modern uniform programme, a dedicated after‑school club, hot school lunches and access to an emerging astro‑turf pitch development project. The school also provides a well‑maintained calendar of events, clear opening hours and a drop‑off and collection system, ensuring a smooth daily routine for families. Enrolment for the 2026/2027 academic year is currently open, with a closing date of 30 January.
