About
Inch National School is a vibrant primary school that places the development of each pupil’s moral, spiritual, physical and academic abilities at the heart of its ethos. Guided by the motto Aontas, Cairdeas, Oideas (Unity, Friendship, Knowledge), the school strives to nurture a supportive community where equality of opportunity and positive self‑esteem are paramount. The curriculum is delivered with a strong emphasis on the Irish primary syllabus while also encouraging pupils to explore their individuality and develop confidence through a range of creative and sporting activities. The school benefits from modern facilities, including a new extension (opened 2000) and interactive whiteboards in every classroom, as well as a purpose‑built sensory space introduced in 2025 to support diverse learning needs. A dedicated hot‑lunch programme, a community walking track and well‑maintained sport areas provide a balanced environment for both academic and physical development. With a staff complement that has grown from two to five teachers, the school maintains small class sizes that allow personalised attention and a close partnership with parents and the wider community.
History
Inch National School celebrates a century of education, tracing its roots back to 1858. The current school building opened in 1910 and has evolved considerably, notably with a new extension added in 2000 and the installation of interactive boards in each classroom. Over the years pupil numbers have risen, expanding the teaching team from two to five teachers. Throughout these changes the school has enjoyed strong support from successive Boards of Management, parents and the local community, and looks forward to meeting future challenges while cherishing each child’s uniqueness.
