Realta Draiochta Pre-School (Ennis National Preschool)

Réalta Draíochta is an Aistear‑focused preschool and Montessori‑inspired early years centre situated on the grounds of Ennis National School, Co. Clare. The service provides two years of free Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for children from 2 years 8 months until they transition to primary school. Its curriculum blends child‑directed play with teacher‑guided activities, drawing on the national Aistear framework and the Síolta quality standards, while also incorporating Montessori practical life and sensorial experiences to foster independence and confidence. The centre offers a spacious indoor environment across two classrooms and a large outdoor area that supports active play and exploration. Mixed‑age groupings encourage peer learning, with older children developing leadership skills and younger children benefiting from modelling. Emphasis is placed on partnership with families, promotion of the Irish language, and a smooth transition to primary school, aided by the location within the primary school itself.
