About
De La Salle College is a voluntary Catholic secondary school for boys located in Macroom, County Cork. With an enrolment of over 330 pupils, the college is governed by a Board of Management comprising representatives of the trustees, the Parents’ Association and the teaching staff. The school follows a Lasallian ethos, emphasising a supportive community, moral development and academic rigour. Daily lessons run from 9 am to 3.50 pm, with a shorter Wednesday timetable, and a structured break pattern that provides time for both study and recreation. A strict uniform of a blue shirt, school jumper with crest and grey trousers underpins the college’s focus on discipline and a professional learning environment. Academic assessment is continuous, with class tests, coursework and end‑of‑term examinations in December and May. Results are shared with parents and regular parent‑teacher meetings are scheduled throughout the year, ensuring transparent communication about each pupil’s progress. The on‑site canteen offers a varied, health‑conscious menu and operates during the morning and afternoon breaks, with senior cycle students permitted to leave the premises at lunchtime. The college also promotes the Lasallian values through extracurricular initiatives such as the Animation Team, which encourages students to embody the core principles of the order. Facilities support a balanced curriculum, providing spaces for both academic study and creative pursuits, while the school’s policies on punctuality, late arrivals and authorised leave reinforce a safe and orderly environment.
