Ardfinnan Community Playschool

Established in 2004, Ardfinnan Community Playschool is a sessional service for children aged 2 to 6 years near Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. It runs on a seasonal basis over 38 weeks of the year, with morning and afternoon sessions. The playschool is committee run and operates on a non-profit basis. It is registered with Early Childhood Ireland. The curriculum is play based and follows Aistear, the national curriculum framework for children from birth to 6 years, together with the Síolta quality framework. Learning is organised around the Aistear themes of identity and belonging, wellbeing, communicating, and exploring and thinking, with outdoor play forming part of the programme. Irish language activities take place through the year, including Seachtain na Gaeilge. Both the ECCE preschool programme and the National Childcare Scheme are used at the service.
