With a small, dedicated team of six creative staff members, the school is able to offer personalised attention, fostering the talents and commitment of its pupils while promoting strong links between children, parents and the wider community. The school benefits from an active parent body and a collaborative ethos that sees pupils, families and staff working together as a cohesive team. Emphasis is placed on nurturing social skills, wellbeing and physical activity, ensuring that children enjoy a balanced education that prepares them for future learning. Modern facilities include a recently added classroom (2016) and a range of resources that support both curricular and extracurricular activities, reinforcing the school’s commitment to a positive, inclusive and forward‑looking educational experience.

History

The present school has been in existence since the 1960s, with a new classroom added in 2016 to accommodate growing enrolment. Prior to this, the school operated on the site of the parish hall. Its origins date back to the 1850s, and the tradition of education in the parish can be traced even further to hedge‑school times, when a travelling master taught children in an orchard – a legacy celebrated by the apple tree featured on the school crest.
