About

Scoil Angela is a mixed, co‑educational primary school situated on the banks of the River Suir in Thurles, County Tipperary, with the impressive Cathedral of the Assumption as a backdrop. The school provides a broad curriculum with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, supported by a dedicated Special Education Team that delivers programmes such as Literacy Lift‑Off, Guided Reading, Mata sa Rang, Ready Set Maths and Aistear. Two teachers are trained in the Reading Recovery programme, ensuring targeted support for early readers, while all staff are equipped to promote inclusive learning. The campus boasts a range of facilities that enhance both academic and extracurricular life, including a sensory garden, a large concert hall, a separate lunchroom and extensive playgrounds. Music is a cornerstone of the school’s ethos, with collaborations such as the Roundabout Programme and participation in the Music Generation and Peace Proms initiatives. Pupils enjoy weekly ukulele lessons, classical instrument tuition, choirs, and whole‑school concerts. A vibrant sports programme, active‑flag status, and the “Operation Scoil Angela” health initiative encourage physical well‑being, while the “Friends for Life” programme and free counselling support positive mental health.
