History
The connection between the Sisters of Mercy and primary education in Booterstown dates to 1838, when foundress Catherine McAuley opened a convent in the area and sisters took up teaching roles in nearby schools. In 1887, a new primary school, St Anne's, opened on Booterstown Avenue for 600 pupils. Following the purchase of new land, Our Lady of Mercy Convent School opened in 1968. After a boys' school opened on Grotto Avenue, the school became all-girls. In July 1969, St Anne's school and Our Lady of Mercy Convent School amalgamated, increasing the school's population. The building was refurbished in 1988, with work completed by September 1991.
