About

Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan is a co‑educational Irish‑medium primary school situated in Bóthar Naomh Chonlain, An tAonach, County Waterford. The school provides a bilingual environment where pupils become fluent in Irish and English from an early age, fostering a strong Irish cultural identity alongside modern academic development. Teaching is delivered through contemporary, child‑centred methodologies that encourage active learning across the full curriculum, ensuring that children are well‑prepared for the demands of a modern world. The school offers a broad range of extra‑curricular activities that complement its academic programme. Sports such as Gaelic football, athletics, camogie, swimming, soccer, rugby and hurling are available, supported by specialist coaches. Music is a key focus, with a school choir, band, optional piano lessons and a comprehensive music curriculum that runs from early years through to senior classes. Additional programmes include Irish dance, computer studies for every class, French from the senior infants, extensive art and craft projects, cooking, gardening, school trips and a variety of after‑school clubs, providing a well‑rounded experience for all pupils.
