About

On the Coast Road at Fanore in Co. Clare, this co-educational Catholic primary school has 25 pupils and 2 teachers. Children begin in Junior Infants at the age of 4 and stay until Sixth Class at 13. Subjects at all class levels take in Gaeilge, English, Maths and German, plus Music, Drama and Visual Arts, SESE covering History, Geography and Science, Physical Education, S.P.H.E., RSE, Religion and IT. Extracurricular activities listed by the school include cross country running, Gaelic football and hurling, swimming, a sports day, readathons, the Excellence in Science Awards and Eco Beo Burren, a conservation programme. The school day runs from 8.50am to 2.40pm. Although the ethos is Catholic, the school states that other religious beliefs and cultures are given due regard. Children visiting from elsewhere have been taken in for short stays, which the school presents as a way for its pupils to learn about cultural difference.
