About

With 36 pupils, Darrara National School is a small rural primary school in the townland of Darrara, near Ring Village and Clonakilty Bay in Co. Cork. It is co-educational and under Catholic patronage, teaching classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class and drawing pupils from Darrara, Clonakilty and the surrounding area. There are 3 classrooms, each fitted with an interactive whiteboard, along with a hall, rooms for special education and an ICT room. Aistear is used in the infant classroom. The grounds hold a tarmac play area, a play maze, a pitch, lawns and parking space. A preschool has operated on the site since October 2020. Classes are mixed gender, and the school points to its low pupil to teacher ratio as a feature of its size. The parents' association takes part in school activities and organises family events such as a Christmas swim and a fun day. Teaching follows the Primary School Curriculum.
