About

Scoil Naomh Pádraig, known locally as Corracrin NS, is a co‑educational, single‑stream primary school situated just outside the village of Emyvale in County Monaghan. The school caters for 226 pupils from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and offers a Catholic ethos while welcoming children of all faiths and none. Emphasising a balanced, rounded education, the curriculum blends high academic standards with a strong focus on sport, art, drama and digital learning. Every classroom, including the dedicated support rooms, is equipped with HD interactive touch‑screens and the school benefits from fibre‑broadband Wi‑Fi throughout the campus. The school’s facilities are among the best in the county, featuring a spacious GP room, a well‑resourced art room and modern, fully equipped classrooms. A special class for children with autism (Síolta) was introduced in September 2020, reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusive education. In addition, a €1.5 million extension, approved by the Department of Education, will open in 2025 to provide bespoke accommodation for ASD provision. Sporting achievement is a hallmark of the school community, with recent historic “double” victories in both boys’ and girls’ GAA in 2024, and regular participation in national programmes such as Green Schools, Active Schools and the Peace Proms concert in Dublin.

History

Corracrin NS celebrates a proud 180‑year history as a primary education provider in the Donagh Parish. Over the decades the school has expanded its provision, most recently opening a dedicated autism support class (Síolta) in September 2020 – the first of its kind in the school’s long history. In response to growing demand, the Department of Education approved a €1.5 million extension, slated to open in 2025, to house specialised ASD facilities. The school continues to evolve, integrating modern digital infrastructure and maintaining strong community ties throughout its extensive heritage.
