About
Claregalway Educate Together National School is a co-educational multi-denominational primary school at Lakeview, Claregalway, Co. Galway, with roughly 220 pupils and DEIS status. Restorative practice is used across the school, and special education teaching is provided alongside mainstream classes. The Stay Safe personal safety programme runs from Junior Infants to 6th class. Irish is taught in the infant classes through practical activities such as a siopa milseán, and pupils have entered the Lego League Explore project with work on marine pollution. Internet safety talks are held for pupils and parents, and the school operates a voluntary collective agreement on smartphones. A preschool and afterschool service is attached. Afterschool classes cover art, coding, Spanish, chess, dance, keyboard and religious instruction for the sacraments, with hurling, camogie and volleyball coached at the community centre across the road. Children preparing for the Eucharist and Confirmation join the local schools for those celebrations. A parents association, known as Parents Together, organises an international evening, discos and an activity week where parents lead sessions.
