Which childminders are listed here

Every childminder listed here is on the Tusla register, so this is not a complete list of everyone minding children in your area. Childminders Tusla has removed from the register are not listed. Always confirm a childminder's current status on the official register before making arrangements.

Registration opened on 30 September 2024 under the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2024. A childminder must be registered if they mind more than 3 pre-school children, or more than 6 children in total counting school-age children. Anyone minding fewer than that can register voluntarily during the current transition period, and registration becomes mandatory for all paid childminders from September 2027.

Registration matters for cost as well as standards: parents can only claim National Childcare Scheme subsidies towards a registered childminder. Tusla's childminding FAQ sets out the current rules in full.
