About

St Ultan's Special Sch is a co-educational special school in Navan, Co. Meath, under the patronage of the Bishop of Meath and managed by a Board of Management. It serves pupils aged 4 to 18 years with mild general learning disabilities, with an enrolment of 122. The school follows the full primary curriculum except for Irish. In the senior school, pupils can take Level 1 and Level 2 Learning Programmes at both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle levels. These programmes adapt the traditional Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate for students with mild general learning disability, with instruction provided by specialist and classroom teachers. The school's stated philosophy centres on developing the whole person, with aims that include building confidence, fostering respect, and equipping pupils with skills for independent living and community participation. The curriculum covers academic, social, personal, vocational, sports and life skills programmes. The school is named after St. Ultan of Ardbraccan, Co. Meath, who ran a school in the 7th century.
