About

Barndarrig in Co. Wicklow is the setting for St Mary's National School, a co-educational Catholic primary school with 37 pupils. The school describes its ethos as rooted in Gospel values, with a small-school environment in which each child is known and supported. A sensory room gives pupils a space away from the ordinary classroom for play that is calming to the senses. Activities alongside the curriculum include yoga, knitting, sport, crafts, cycling, baking and sensory play, and there is a school garden. A fully funded summer programme runs for two weeks immediately after the June term ends, with sport, games, baking and arts and crafts for eligible children. Classes go up to sixth class, which finishes with a graduation, and the year includes a sports day and a school tour.
