About

St Laurence's National School is a co-educational Catholic primary school in Baldoyle, Co. Dublin, with about 413 pupils. It is split between a junior building and a senior building, each with its own telephone line. Sport has a prominent place: basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, Irish dancing and athletics are coached, and pupils are linked to local clubs including Na Dubh Ghall GAA, Baldoyle United FC and Suttonians RFC. The grounds hold a surfaced yard and basketball pitch, football pitches and an all-weather pitch, with Baldoyle United using the grounds at agreed times in return for maintaining them. Classwork extends to science investigation through participation in Science Blast, where pupils set a testable question, research it, run a fair test and present findings. Station teaching is used in English and maths in the infant classes. Other fixtures of the year include an anti-bullying week, a culture day, buddy reading between classes and assemblies at which pupils receive achievement awards. The school holds Green Schools flags, the sixth awarded in 2018 for global citizenship covering litter and waste.
