About
In Crookstown, Co. Kildare, St. Laurence's National School is a Catholic primary school with 259 pupils, girls and boys together. Mainstream classes span Junior Infants to Sixth Class, and three autism classes operate within the school. Special education teachers and special needs assistants work alongside the class teachers. Children of other religious backgrounds attend, and the school states that their religious outlook is respected and that all are admitted equally. Recycling has been introduced across the school as part of raising awareness of ecological matters. The motto is given in Irish as Bí go maith leis an ngarlach, carrying the sense that kindness shown to a child is returned the following day. The school sets out its aim as a primary education in which each pupil is enabled to develop as an individual, in moral and spiritual terms as well as academic ones.
