About
On Balcurris Road in Ballymun, Dublin 11, St Joseph's Junior National School teaches pupils from Junior Infants to second class. It is Catholic and co-educational, with an enrolment of 138 and DEIS status. An autism class runs alongside the mainstream classes, and applications for it go through the National Council for Special Education. A senior school of the same name operates in Ballymun, and the two share a Home School Community Liaison teacher, who calls to families at home, runs a parents' room and organises courses for parents in crafts, first aid, computers and wellbeing. Other programmes bring parents into the school through Maths for Fun, language games, storytime and storysacks, homework buddies and the Incredible Years parenting course, with sacramental preparation and help for families whose children are moving to secondary school. The school holds an Amber Flag. Hurling coaching is provided, older pupils read with the infant classes, and classes travel on school tours.
