History
Slieverue National School opened in 1966 with 3 classrooms, replacing the original school that had stood on the Airmount Road since 1884. A general purpose room and three further classrooms were added during the 1970's and early 1980's. A small double pre-fabricated building was put in place in 2002, and in 2009 two more classrooms were added along with a staffroom and a special-education room. In April 2023 the school moved into a new extension, adding a classroom at the front, 2 SEN classes and corridors connecting the old parts of the building.
