About

Scoil Íosa is a welcoming, happy primary school formed from the amalgamation of Scoil Mhuire and Scoil Iósaif Naofa in Oranmore. The school operates within a Catholic ethos, aiming to create a safe, nurturing environment where effective teaching and active learning thrive. Staff prioritise open, positive relationships with both pupils and parents, recognising that learning is a lifelong process that prepares children to become confident global citizens. The school is spread across two modern campuses – Campus 1 on Castle Road and Campus 2 on Maree Road – providing ample space for classroom learning, play areas and specialised facilities. A vibrant, dynamic atmosphere encourages children to reach their full potential, with a focus on inclusive support for every child’s needs. The curriculum is delivered through engaging, child‑centred methods that promote both academic achievement and personal development, ensuring pupils enjoy a well‑rounded primary education.

Irish schools follow a standardised school year, so these nationwide primary school dates apply broadly to Scoil Íosa. The school publishes its own calendar, linked above, and that is the authoritative source for its reopening date and discretionary closure days.

  • October Mid-Term Break: Mon 26 Oct – Fri 30 Oct 2026
  • Christmas Holidays: Wed 23 Dec 2026 – Tue 5 Jan 2027
  • February Mid-Term Break: Thu 18 Feb – Fri 19 Feb 2027 (post-primary schools: Mon 15 Feb – Fri 19 Feb 2027)
  • Easter Holidays: Mon 22 Mar – Sun 4 Apr 2027

Primary schools close for the last two days of the February mid-term week and may use discretionary days to take the full week, so their break can be shorter than post-primary schools'.
