About

A co-educational Catholic primary school in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Scoil na Naomh Uilig teaches around 589 pupils from junior infants through to sixth class. The school takes "Uile le Chéile" as its motto. Gaelic games are a large part of school life, with boys' and girls' football and camogie teams entered in Cumann na mBunscol leagues at under-10, under-11 and senior level, and an in-school football league run each June for pupils from second to sixth class. Football training is open to pupils from second class upwards. A school choir takes part in the Peace Proms, the large-scale concerts staged with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, and has performed for local radio. Chess is also organised, with teams entering competitions elsewhere in Kildare. Other activities have included an art club covering paint, fabric, clay and drawing. Junior and senior infant classes use the Aistear approach, and pupils have produced a published class book of their own writing. A student council operates, and pupils prepare for First Holy Communion in second class.
