About

Scoil Moling‑Glynn is a small, rural, Catholic co‑educational primary school situated near the village of St Mullins in County Carlow. The school operates under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin and places a strong emphasis on partnership between children, families, staff and the wider community. Its educational ethos seeks to nurture each child’s academic, social, emotional and spiritual development within a safe, inclusive and vibrant environment. The campus comprises a newly renovated and extended building opened in September 2021, which provides modern classrooms and specialist spaces for a range of co‑curricular activities. In 2023 a CLÁR project delivered a new, well‑equipped playground, enhancing outdoor learning and play. The school offers a broad programme of activities including music, sport, green‑school initiatives, farm safety and a student council, supporting a holistic approach to education. A dedicated team of mainstream teachers, a special education needs (SET) teacher and a school nurse assistant, together with support staff, ensure smooth day‑to‑day operation. An active Parents’ Association and proactive Board of Management further enrich the school community and its resources.

History

Scoil Moling‑Glynn traces its origins to 1829, reflecting a long tradition of education in the area. The original school building was erected in 1942 with two classrooms, an additional classroom was added in 1964, and a prefabricated structure was installed in 1995 to accommodate growing enrolment. A major renovation and extension of the school premises was completed and opened on 1 September 2021, and in November 2023 the CLÁR project added a new playground to the grounds.
