About

Green Lane in Leixlip, Co Kildare is the location of Scoil Eoin Phóil, a Catholic co-educational primary school with 264 pupils in classes from Junior Infants to Sixth. The school takes its motto from the Irish phrase "Ní thosaíonn an todhchaí amárach, tosaíonn sí inniu". Irish language work is organised by a Gaeilge committee and includes traditional dancing, a céilí, a concert, quizzes and paired reading between senior and junior classes during Seachtain na Gaeilge. STEM forms part of the curriculum under the primary framework, with class work on construction, coding, mapping and tessellation. Writing is encouraged through a story and poetry competition, and an art competition is held annually in memory of a former pupil. Local history is studied by fifth class, including the history of Leixlip and its medieval church. Classes take educational tours, and the school runs an anti-bullying programme called KiVa. Pupils from third to sixth class elect a student council. There is a school garden where vegetables are grown, and an active week combining sports with coaching in activities such as tennis, dance, football and rugby.
