About

Scariff Community College is a co‑educational, multi‑denominational post‑primary school operating under the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. The college delivers an inclusive, student‑centred and holistic education to young people in East Clare, emphasising both academic achievement and personal development. A broad curriculum spans the Junior Cycle, Transition Year and Senior Cycle, complemented by a wide range of co‑curricular and extra‑curricular programmes that foster social, emotional, cultural and physical growth. The school is set on 20 acres of wooded grounds in a rural location close to Lough Derg, providing a tranquil learning environment. Facilities have been continually modernised: a new building was completed in 1981, fully renovated in 2007, and an ongoing extension will add specialist Engineering, Construction and Music rooms together with three purpose‑built classrooms. Dedicated support services, including guidance counselling and provisions for additional educational needs, ensure that every student can access the resources required to reach their full potential.

History

The institution traces its origins to the original vocational school established in 1941. A purpose‑built school building was completed in 1981, subsequently renovated and modernised in 2007. The college is currently expanding with an extension that will house state‑of‑the‑art specialist rooms for Engineering, Construction, Music and additional classrooms.
