About

St. Patrick’s National School, Maugherow is a small rural primary school situated in north Sligo. Operating under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Elphin, the school provides a close‑knit learning environment with three mainstream classes ranging from Junior Infants through to Sixth class. The modest size of the school allows for personalised attention and a strong sense of community, with a focus on fostering both academic progress and social development in a supportive setting. The school places particular emphasis on inclusive education. Two full‑time Special Education Teachers are on site to deliver tailored support for pupils with additional needs, and an English as an Additional Language (EAL) specialist is present two days a week to assist learners for whom English is not the first language. Administrative support is provided by a secretary on Mondays and Wednesdays, ensuring that the office is staffed for parent contact on those days. Additional resources such as a Class Dojo platform, a dedicated school transport service, and a well‑maintained calendar of events further enhance the educational experience.
