History
Education in Ramsgrange dates to the nineteenth century. The parish was established in 1863, and in 1871 the Sisters of St. Louis founded a convent and school there. They later ran a boarding secondary school that closed in 1905, after which the facilities were used for practical and vocational training, including a domestic economy college. A new secondary school opened in 1969, and vocational education was also available through Shielbaggan Vocational Education Committee schools. Ramsgrange Community School itself was officially opened in 1977, formed through the amalgamation of the St. Louis Sisters' secondary school and the local vocational school. The last St. Louis Sister retired from teaching at the school in 1997, though the order remains involved as co-trustees.
