About

North Monastery Secondary School is a co-educational Catholic secondary school on the north side of Cork city. It operates as a mainstream school with an autism unit. Enrolment is approximately 271 students. The school's ethos is based on the values of Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brother's Schools, and the school states its aim as valuing each student as an individual while pursuing excellence in teaching and learning. Past pupils include two Lord Mayors of Cork, Tomás MacCurtain and Terence MacSwiney, as well as Jack Lynch, one of only ten former Taoisigh to have attended the school. The school has produced 15 Lord Mayors of Cork City in total. In hurling, the school has won the Harty Cup 20 times, the second highest tally in the competition's history.
