About
Myshall National School (Scoil Fhoirtcheirn agus Fhinin Naofa, Myshall) is a Catholic, co‑educational primary school that provides a nurturing environment for children from Junior Infants through to Senior Infants. The school operates with a team of nine teachers, including mainstream, Special Educational Needs (SET) and Special Class staff, supported by six Special Needs Assistants. Its educational philosophy is grounded in Christian values, promoting tolerance, respect for diverse beliefs and the holistic development of each pupil – physically, socially, culturally and academically – from the first day of school until they leave. The school places a strong emphasis on a broad‑based curriculum enriched by a wide range of extracurricular activities. Pupils are encouraged to take part in sports, outings, music and drama, swimming lessons, quizzes and artistic competitions, fostering confidence and community spirit. Recent investment in facilities includes a new classroom, office and staff room opened in 2018, alongside earlier expansions that have increased learning space and modernised the school’s environment.
History
Myshall National School was founded in 1955. In 1981 two additional classrooms were officially opened by Bishop Patrick Lennon. A further expansion took place in 2018 when a new classroom, office and staff room were opened and blessed by Bishop Denis Nulty, the current patron of the school.
