About

Kilnamanagh Community National School opened in August 2019 as the first Community National School in County Wexford, operating under the patronage of the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board. Situated on the R741 midway between Gorey and Wexford, the school enjoys a rural setting with spacious gardens, a dedicated sensory garden and areas for children to grow vegetables and flowers. These outdoor spaces support a hands‑on, experiential approach to learning and reinforce the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing its ecological footprint. The school follows the multi‑denominational Community National School ethos, emphasising excellence in education, respect for diversity and strong partnerships with parents and the wider community. Core values of equality, respect, care and community guide daily practice, creating a happy, inclusive environment where pupils can develop confidence, ability and a love of learning. An after‑school childcare facility operated by a nearby provider further supports families, offering a convenient extension to the school day.

History

The school opened in September 2019 with fourteen pupils and quickly expanded. By August 2019 a second teacher had joined the teaching principal, enabling the use of two classrooms: a Junior Room (junior infants to second class) and a Senior Room (third to sixth class). Enrolments continued to rise, with additional places confirmed for September 2020. The school benefits from strong community support, welcoming active involvement from parents, past pupils and local volunteers, and remains grateful to those whose generosity made its establishment possible.
