About
Rathmore, Co. Kerry, is home to Holy Family National School, a mixed Catholic primary school with 235 pupils and classes from Junior Infants to Sixth class. Healthy eating is covered by a school policy and by participation in the Food Dudes programme. An Amber Flag committee also acts as the student council, raising money for wellbeing activities through cake sales and a jersey raffle. The school takes part in Green Schools and has gained flags under that programme, including one for biodiversity, and it runs Active Schools activities. Science work is done through Discover Primary Science, with a Platinum Curious Minds award recorded for 2022-2023. Chess is a regular activity, and pupils enter quizzes as well as football and hurling competitions. A Deposit Return Scheme bin for bottles and cans is sited beside the second class window, with proceeds going to school funds. An internet and technology use agreement known as Agree to Agree was adopted with families, and the school set a review of it for 2026 along with parent workshops. Class library books have been bought with funds raised by the parents committee.
