The school states its ethos as built on wellbeing, respect and excellence in education.

History

Coláiste Phádraig was established in September 1969 with two teachers and 45 students, housed in a single prefab building that was gradually expanded. In autumn 1978, the school moved into its permanent building, by which time it had grown to 400 students and 30 teachers. Transition Year and the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme were introduced around this time. As Lucan expanded, a major extension was planned and completed in 2004, adding computer rooms, science and language laboratories, a careers library, metalwork and woodwork rooms, and a gymnasium. In 2024, a new modular building with two special class rooms was opened.
