The Presentation Sisters arrived in Clondalkin in 1857 to set up a school providing primary education for local children. A secondary top was established in 1955, allowing pupils to sit for the Intermediate Certificate in Scoil Bhríde, as the school was then known. Coláiste Bríde was established in 1964 in the convent building. The school moved to its present site in 1969, with the official opening in 1970. Further expansion took place in the late 1970s and early 1990s. A new building began in November 2004, and the official opening of the new school building took place in May 2008.
